"A Used-To-Work-Together Get-Together" for former BF Goodrich employees was held Saturday at Calhoun Park.

Goodrich was once a major employer for Calhoun residents, first operating a plant in Grantsville and then Spencer.

About 35 former employees and retirees of Goodrich Corporation (formerly BF Goodrich) and their families attended the weekend event.

Many of the workers attending the picnic had worked with each other spanning 30 years of operation. The plant started in 1972 and the Spencer operation was shut down in 2002.

Goodrich executives told workers the closure was not related to shifting the jobs abroad, although they had sent Spencer workers to India to do training.

Later, the company fessed up.
