I DARE YOU TO STAB ME - A 4th of July dispute ended with a Huntington woman in handcuffs and a man being treated at St. Mary's Medical Center.

Police arrested Maria E. Lecea, 45, of Huntington following a stabbing. She was charged with felony malicious wounding and misdemeanor obstruction.

The victim was identified as Ezra Conn, 31, of Huntington. He is listed in critical condition.

Mike Stevens, a neighbor, said he saw a man and woman arguing, as another person attempted to break up the dispute. Then he saw the man spit in the woman's face and that prompted her to walk inside the residence and get a knife.

Stevens said the man repeatedly challenged the woman to come off the porch and use the knife. She refused. Later, the man walked toward the woman and she reportedly stabbed him.

It happened about 12:30 a.m. Wednesday at Mimi's at Southridge Plaza.

Three customers were inside at the time.

The robber displayed a handgun and made off with money from the cash register. No one was hurt.

The gunman, described as a slender black male, was wearing a long black trench coat, red bandanna and a cream-colored fisherman's hat.

HANNIBAL LECTER RETURNS? - The ex-girlfriend of a suspected murderer says he compared his actions to something the fictional serial killer in the movie "Silence of the Lambs."

Stefanie Brennan testified in Berkeley County Magistrate Court in the preliminary hearing for 37-year-old Anthony Charles Juntilla.

Brennan says Juntilla told her he'd done something bad but wouldn't say what.

She says the Hedgesville man told her just to think of Hannibal Lecter.

The preliminary hearing for Juntilla's co-defendant, 28-year-old Dwayne Douty the Second of Martinsburg, was continued.

Both men are charged with first-degree murder in the May 27th death of 41-year-old Tina Marie Starcher.

Starcher's body was found in the woods near the Berkeley-Jefferson County line.

State Police say she was raped by both men at Juntilla's home and then knocked unconscious.

News reports said Juntilla allegedly slit her throat and poured cleaning liquid onto her mouth and pelvic area before he and Douty drove the body to a remote site and dumped it.
