NEW YEAR'S EVE DISPUTE TURNS DEADLY - A family dispute turned deadly just before midnight on Mill Creek Road in Big Chimney, Kanawha County.

Police say 57-year-old Michael Brisendine shot and killed his son-in-law, 30-year-old Teddy Pauley II, following an argument inside Brisendine's home.

It was the conclusion of what is likely the most violent year related to domestic violence in WV.

After shooting Pauley, Brisendine then shot himself in the stomach in an apparent attempted suicide. His injuries are not believed to be life threatening, according to police.

Police reported the shooting happened in front of the men's wives and Pauley's children.

THREE SHOT TO DEATH IN DUNBAR - Police discovered the bodies of three people who were apparently shot and killed in their Dunbar home.

Dunbar police responded to a domestic dispute complaint.

Upon arrival they discovered the bodies of two women on the floor just inside the open door of the apartment. Lori Ann Francis, 34, was laying beside the body of her mother, Patricia Francis, 64. The father of Lori and husband of Patricia, 63-year-old Richard Francis, was found dead in a separate room.

All three had gunshot wounds and there was no sign of forced entry.

PARKERSBURG MAN DIED FROM STAB WOUNDS - Parkersburg Police say a man who disappeared last week was stabbed to death in what they are calling a 'violent' murder.

Roy Matheny, 81, was found Thursday in a parking lot after family members reported him missing the day after Christmas.

Police say Matheny was brutally murdered, stabbed multiple times, in what could have been a robbery.

No suspects have been named.
