SINGLETON SENTENCED FOR DRUG POSSESSION

(04/18/2006)
A Calhoun man has been sentenced to Central Regional Jail for possession of a controlled substance.

Authorities arrested Walter Eugene "Hog Man" Singleton, a resident of Henry's Fork in June, 2004, charging him with possession of a controlled substance, grand larceny and joy riding.

Singleton, (pictured left) has pled to a possession charge, after officers found a small amount of an illegal drug.

Singleton, in 2004, was reportedly being pursued by authorities in what was originally reported as a stolen vehicle from Gilmer County.

Police claimed he was armed and dangerous.

Sgt. Tom Yanero, among the five officers at the scene near the Calhoun-Roane line, allegedly found a white powder which was identified as cocaine. Conservation Officer John Apgar cited Singleton for littering.
