UNDERWOOD MUSEUM WILL BE DEDICATED DURING ALUMNI WEEKEND

Loyd "Sonny" Wright said the Wayne Underwood Museum and box seat building needs about $4,000 more to complete the structure.

"We're hopeful some folks will come through so the project can be completed," he said, indicating a ribbon-cutting is planned for the annual CHS Alumni Gathering on July 1.

Wright said we "Need just a little more help."

The groundbreaking was held last November at CM-HS, and construction has been moving along.

"Underwood was one of the greatest men who ever coached football in West Virginia," said Wright.

About $30,000 has been raised for the project, including a $10,000 donation from the Ox Johnson family.

It was Johnson's vision to erect the museum, which also includes 30-36 box seats on the second floor to view sports activities.

The rental of the seats will support sports programs at the school.

The building, which will be the same dimensions as the press box, will be used to display memorabilia from the Underwood years.

The sale of the seats will be used as a fundraiser for athletic programs, said Wright.
