CHALLENGE WV FALL CONFERENCE OCT. 22 - Committed To Small Community Schools, Calhoun's Jude Binder Will Present

Challenge West Virginia will hold their Annual Fall Conference Friday, October 22, at Embassy Suites in Charleston, West Virginia from 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Parents, educators, school board members and anyone interested in the education of West Virginia children are invited to attend.

Keynote speaker will be Marty Strange, Policy Director of Rural School and Community Trust. Mr. Strange will discuss how West Virginia fits into what is happening in education across the country.

Dr. Lorna Jimerson will discuss the impact of "No Child Left Behind" on West Virginia students, schools, and communities. Dr. Jimerson is a member of the policy staff of the Rural School and Community Trust.

Jude Binder, Artistic Director of Calhoun County's Heartwood in the Hills will discuss "Art, a key element in the development of children."

The $20 per person conference fee includes lunch and special entertainment by Karen Vuranch performing "Coal Camp Memories,". Karen, well known for her traditional storytelling based on oral and living history presentations of famous American women, brings history to life through her unique performance style.
