Folks who want to forget about the past had better stay away. For everyone else, Spencer's annual Heritage Days celebration is one heck of a good time.

The 4th annual Heritage Days kicks off Friday and chairman David McCutcheon says it is definitely going to be a hands-on event.

"We are going to have a lot of demonstrations. We trying to make it more interactive," said McCutcheon.

The two-day celebration at Spencer's Heritage Park will include an old-time fur traders encampment and demonstrations in blacksmithing, hide tanning, candle dipping and basket weaving.

The public can participate in horseshoe pitching and tomahawk throwing contests, and the "mountain men" in the encampment will stage a "Seneca Run" competition for the public to watch which will include timed competitions in loading and firing muzzleloaders and tomahawk and knife throwing.
