SCHOOL BOARD TAKES ACTION ON ANNUAL BUDGET

Lee "Ox" Johnson, Loyd Wright and Burl "Junior" Smith addressed the Calhoun Board of Education at their Monday meeting regarding a new building at the Calhoun Middle/High School to honor Wayne Underwood. It was the consensus of the board that the group proceed with the project. (Story will follow on the project)

Board member Cunningham reported on the March 23, 2004 and April 20, 2004 CGCC meetings and board member Frederick reported on the March 24, 2004 RESA meeting.

The Facility Use Policy passed unanimously.

The following new business was approved as presented:

A. Volunteer Agreement - Brenda Holcomb - Arnoldsburg School

B. Out of State Conference Request - Renita Benson, Larry Stinn and Jackie Shimer - National Reading Conference - Minneapolis, Minnesota - July 13-14, 2004

C. Contract - Straight Cut Lawn Care

D. Social Studies Textbook Adoption

PERSONNEL:

The Board entered into executive session for 20 minutes to discuss personnel issues.

The following peronnel issues were approved:

Retirement - Bruce Jett - Effective May 14, 2004

Job Posting - Temporary Lights On Site Coordinator - Calhoun Middle/High School

Recall from Reduction in Force List - Stephanie Carpenter

Employment:

1. Norma Randall-Myers - Substitute Teacher

2. Trina Beall - Temporary Lights On Site Coordinator - Calhoun Middle/High School

3. Sierra Wriston - Tutor (Lights On)

Termination of Substitute Custodian Contract - Eric Webb

Superintendent's Contract - one year at current salary and benefits

FINANCES APPROVED:

Approve Levy Order; FY2004-2005 Budget Hearing/Approval; Invoices - $226,023.89; Supplements - $20,681.45; Transfer - $473,930.74; Financial Report - March 2004.

The next meeting is on May 3 at the Office of the Superintendent.
