WEDNESDAY: CALHOUN HAS 70 ACTIVE CASES - 1,337 NEW WV CASES - 90 Outbreaks In 33 School Numbering 921 Cases, WV Hits Record 1,000 Hospitalizations

The West Virginia Department of Health and Human Resources confirmed 1,734 new COVID-19 cases and 26 additional deaths in its report on Sept. 22.

The DHHR confirmed 1,337 new COVID-19 cases and 17 additional deaths in its report on Tuesday.

90 outbreaks in schools in 33 counties, are 921 confirmed cases among students, said Gov. Justice Wednesday.

The Hur Herald has been unable to get the number of Calhoun students with COVID-19. According to the state, Calhoun has 70 active cases.

A number of Calhoun residents are reportedly in ICUs, while others from ages 20s to the 70s are suffering from debilitating health problems linked to the disease.

State charts say most new cases are among children and the 30-50 age group.

Regionally, deaths include 43 year old male from Roane, a 66 year old male from Wirt and a 57 year old female from Wirt.

According to the DHHR dashboard, there are currently 15,280 active cases.
