He was a proud member of First Baptist Church in Brunswick, the Brunswick Eagles, and Seville Lodge #74 Free and Accepted Masons. Steve was a volunteer for the BCPAAA, and was recognized and awarded as a tireless worker and advocate for the Salvation Army Red Kettle drive.

He also enjoyed gardening and was an animal lover – especially loving his dog, Shaggy.

Steve is survived by his wife of nearly 61 years, Delma (Bower) Atkinson of Brunswick; and his brother-in-law, Morris Bower (Evelyn) of Parkersburg WV.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Orin and Nancy Atkinson; and a brother, Pete Atkinson.

A Celebration of Steve's life will be held at a later date, due to Covid-19. In Steve's memory, memorial donations may be made to either the Salvation Army or the First Baptist Church of Brunswick.
