| WV election day is set for June 9, and Calhoun County Clerk Jean Simers says the last day to register is May 19, with in-person early voting at the Calhoun courthouse starting May 27 and ending June 6.
Simers said last week that 1223 absentee ballots have been requested with 745 ballots returned.
2196 people voted in the May 10, 2016 Primary Election.
Calhoun joined the Mountain State in the 2016 presidential primary with the lowest or near lowest voter turnout, less that 50% of Calhoun voters casting their ballot.
There are 4628 registered voters in Calhoun, 2090 Democrats, 1226 Republicans, 1283 Independent, and 29 Libertarian/Others.
The stateâs primary election was moved to June 9 because of the Coronavirus. Voters should make sure their registration information is correct, including new address for anyone who has moved.
Registration or checking current registration can be handled online at GoVoteWV.com.
For the primary this year, registered voters can vote in person during early voting or on Election Day at a polling location, or by absentee ballot.
All registered voters are permitted to use an absentee mail-in ballot under the âother medical reasonâ excuse due to the coronavirus.
Anyone voting for the first time since registering in their county must include with their absentee ballot a government document with the voterâs name and address or the ballot must be made provisional.
