UNDERWOOD MUSEUM NEEDS FINANCIAL HELP |
(07/20/2004) |
Contributed by Connie Roberts Calhoun High School alumni and friends have contributed almost $5,000 - approximately 20% of what will be needed to construct a building at the school's athletic field that will honor the late coach Wayne Underwood. The building will house a museum recognizing the school's most winning coach, in addition to box seating which the athletic department will utilize for fund raising. Three of Underwood's former players, Loyd Wright, Lee (Ox) Johnson and Burl (Junior) Smith presented their plan for this building to the Calhoun County Board of Education in April, at which time the board granted permission to proceed with the project. Additional donations are needed. They can be sent to the Wayne Underwood Building Fund, Calhoun County Board of Education, HC 89 Box 119, Mt. Zion, WV 26151. If you have questions regarding the project or making donations you may contact Loyd Wright, 1060 Warren Chapel Road, Fleming, OH 45729, (740) 374-5108 or Lee (Ox) Johnson, (304) 863-6365. All donations are tax deductible and will impact the students of Calhoun High both past and present. The following have donated to the project
