Opal Houchin Jett, 101, of Arnoldsburg has passed.

"I've tried to live right, the best I could and not be a burden, with the help of the Good Man," she said.

Opal admitted, "It's not all been sunshine. I've had to work hard," saying, "I'd like to see the bales of hay I've lifted in my lifetime in one pile."

"I'm glad the good Lord has let me stay around this long," she concluded, during her 100th birthday party.

She was a member of the Beech United Methodist Church and enjoyed quilting, sewing, pie baking, gardening, canning, singing hymns and farming.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, December 17, 2013, at 1:00 p.m. at the Stump Funeral Home in Arnoldsburg. Interment will follow in the Houchin Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Monday.
