(05/05/2002)

Transcribed by Norma Knotts Shaffer from microfilm of the Calhoun Chronicle dated 7/27/1897.

John Westfall was coming from Spencer to Arnoldsburg a few days ago with a load of goods, and before getting to Arnoldsburg was overtaken by darkness, and in a dense woods was attacked by robbers, who cut his clothes almost off of him.  From the information we have of the matter it was a desperate fight, but Westfall succeeded in driving his assailants away.  No clue to the perpetrators.
