Little Boy Killed
A terrible accident occurred on Middle run last Saturday, as a result
of which the six year old son of C.O. Rafferty is dead and was buried at
the Riddle grave yard. The family of Everett Bennett of Hattie, was
visiting Mr. Rafferty's family, and the eight year old son of Mr. Bennett
and the little Rafferty boy were playing with a shot gun that some had
thoughtlessly laid where they could reach it. One was playing that
he was the horse and the other the driver and they were using the gun for
a plow, when the hammer was caught on the door facing and the gun was discharged,
the shot taking effect in the Rafferty boy's abdomen, completely disemboweling
him. Death was almost instantaneous. The sad affair has cast
a gloom over the entire community. |
