FIDDLER JAKE RACKS UP MORE HONORS - Lester McCumbers Honored At String Band Fest


Calhoun's Jake Krack, for the second year in a row, has won the top Old-time Fiddlers Award at the 74th Galax Old-Time Fiddlers Convention in Galax, Virginia.

Jake (pictured left) competed against ninety-four other fiddlers in the old-time fiddle competition.

Jake has won the first place award four out of the last eight years at Galax.

His band, the Whoopin Hollar String Band, also won top honors in the old-time string band contest for the fourth time.

Jake and the Whoopin Hollar String band will be performing at the Clay County Golden Delicious Festival in September and at Bear Fork in Calhoun the same evening in September.

Calhoun's Lester McCumbers, at age 84 (seen above) won the senior fiddle contest for the fourth time at the Appalachian String Band Festival at Clifftop, West Virginia this August.

Lester also won the overall award a number of times in conjunction with the senior award at the festival.
