Two Injured in Wease Ridge Accident in 1906

Transcribed by Norma Knotts Shaffer from microfilm of the Calhoun Chronicle dated 9/16/1906.

A terrible accident occurred to Warren Wright while digging a well at James Hickman's house, on Wease Ridge Saturday evening.  A blast had been put in the well and Mr. Wright was lighting the fuse.  It became lit before he noticed it and he was warned to run, but the warning came too late.  He was struck in the head and face with stones, and his jaw bone was broken.  Dr. Dye dressed the wound, and he is getting along as well as could be expected.  Mr. Hickman was also badly hurt by a rock striking him in the head.
