Log Boom Construction Planned in 1901

A charter has been granted to the Creston Boom and Timber Co. for the purpose of constructing boom or booms in the West Fork, near the mouth, in Wirt county, at or near the mouth of Steer creek Calhoun county, and at or near the mouth of Cedar creek, Gilmer county.  The amount of capital stock is $800, of eight shares at $100 each.  The right to increase the capital to $8,000 is given.  The object is to stop ties, saw logs and all other timber, to hold and lease, own or convey real estate.  The incorporators are F.N. Hays, S.A. Hays of Glenville, C.C. Bee and J.G. Merrill of Creston and A.E. Kenney of Grantsville.
