George Lightner of Bull River was in town Monday morning. Last
week the Chronicle mentioned "Uncle Georges" return from Harrison county
where he had been visiting his son. We have just learned a great
indignity has been put upon him by his son. The son came here several
months ago and persuaded the old man and his wife to go home with him promising
to take care of them the rest of their lives. For some reason they
became tired of their son's hospitality and started to return to their
home here when they were sued by the son and a judgment rendered for nearly
$300 against them for board. We understand the elder Lightner will
carry the case to a higher court and contest it to the better end.
His friends here who are conversant with the facts are of the opinion that
the old man has been badly treated. |
