Rep. Kenney Works for Improvements in 1907

Transcribed by Norma Knotts Shaffer from microfilm of the Calhoun Chronicle dated 2/19/1907.

Representative Kenney has made a gallant fight to have a law passed, authorizing county courts to lay a special levy to build bridges, that met with defeat, the Republicans voting against it to a man.  Mr. Kenney was successful in several of his fights, the one most particular, being the increase of from 30 cents to 35 cents for county purposes. This will possibly give us a small margin for improvements, and will permit our county to get some benefit from the oil interests, whose wealth will soon leave the county.
