of the Calhoun Chronicle dated 4/3/1894.
At a meeting of a council composed of deleg't's from Mt. Pisgah, Bethlehem,
Mt. Carmel, Crooked Fork, Eliam, Sycamore and Bulah Baptist churches, called
for the purpose of considering the propriety of organizing a Baptist Church,
convened at the Rush Run School house, in Calhoun county, on Wednesday,
March 28th '94, at 10 o'clock, a.m. After devotional exercises, Rev.
D. Huffman, was chosen Chairman, and J.W. Pell, Secretary. The council
then proceeded to a deliberate and critical examination of their constitution,
covenants of faith etc. After due consideration, on motion, the credentials
were accepted and after an impressive sermon by Rev. Wm. Burns, from Dan.
2 & 35, Theme -- "Establishment and Perpetuity of the Church," the
hand of fellowship was extended to fifty-eight members who now compose
the Rush Run Baptist Church.
