The old folks used to say, "It won't really be Spring until after the
Easter Squall."
(Squall: probably of Scandinavian origin; akin to
Swedish skval: a sudden violent wind often with rain or snow, or a
short-lived commotion).
The squall arrived this Easter, 2001.
It painted an unusual picture, topping the vibrant colors of
spring with snow caps.
