CALHOUN'S 911 SYSTEM GETTING HALF-MILLION DOLLAR UPGRADE - "Top Of The Line Technology"

By Bob Weaver Calhoun's 911 system is getting a major upgrade, the first in 15 years, and will be the first WV system to get the improvements. "All of this means that Calhoun 911 will be in the top of the line in technology to be able to serve the citizens of Calhoun County. We will be able to communicate better with our first responders in the field," said 911/OES Director Julie Sears. It involves purchasing a total three part system from Zetron, a company that has been working in the 911 system for over 40 years, through local representative Joe Tanner of Tanner Communications. The center will have the ability to receive text to 911, with an announcement to be made when it goes in operation. The mapping software will be updated with more detailed information and up-to-date addressing information. An open house is being planned in the fall.
