CALHOUN MIDDLE-HIGH SCHOOL HAS NEW COVID-19 CASES, 63 QUARANTINED - Calhoun Has Weekly Record 23 Cases So Far This Week

Calhoun Superintendent of Schools Kelli Whytsell says a current outbreak at Calhoun Middle-High School has two additional employees that have tested positive for COVID-19, four staff members quarantined and 59 students quarantined.

Calhoun Middle-High School has been closed to in-person learning until May 17.

Reportedly, the Little Kanawha Christian School is also closed to in-person learning related to cases.

Calhoun appears to have 23 new cases of COVID-19 so far this week, a record number for a single week.

Facebook accounts say much of the recent outbreak has been linked to students participating in athletics, but not confirmed.

There will be a free drive-thru COVID-19 testing offered through Minnie Hamilton on Monday, May 10 from 9:00-12:00 and Thursday, May 13 from 9:00-12:00 at Calhoun Middle High School.

"Any student or staff is welcome to come and test. However, if you have been quarantined due to an exposure or having symptoms, we encourage you to be tested. If you have any questions about testing, please contact School Nurse Trudi Anderson at 304-354-6148 ext 21," said Whytsell.

Food bags will be issued to all virtual and quarantined students on Wednesday, May 12, from 11:00-1:00, at all school locations.

The school system is also expecting Farm to Fresh food boxes on Wednesday, May 12, and will pass those out at Calhoun Middle High School.
