| BECKLEY MURDER - Police are investigating a shooting early Saturday morning in Beckley that left one person dead and another injured.
Beckley police responded to a shots fired call just after midnight in the 200 block of Hargrove Street where they arrested Eric W. Burkhart, 31, of Stanaford, according to a news release.
Officers found two victims at the location, a 31-year-old male and a 42-year-old female. The male died at the scene from his gunshot wounds, the news release said.
The woman was transported to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Burkhart is charged with first degree murder, malicious wounding and three counts of wanton endangerment. He is being held at Southern Regional Jail.
Police said the incident stemmed from a verbal altercation. |
