STAND-OFF - One person is in custody after a standoff with Huntington police that lasted more than six hours.

Police responded to a shooting in the 1900 block of Enslow Avenue about 11:40 p.m. Friday night where a man had been shot, Huntington Interim Police Chief Ray Cornwell said.

The suspect in the shooting ran to a residence on Woodmont Road and barricaded themselves in, according to Cornwell.

Huntington police deployed its SWAT team and attempts to call out the suspect were unsuccessful. Cornwell said the SWAT team entered the residence about 6 a.m. and found the individual.

The victim in the shooting, Nathaniel Adkins, 30, of Huntington was grazed on the head. His injury is non-life-threatening.

No information was provided on the suspect.

The Cabell County Sheriff’s Office assisted with calls in the city while Huntington policed were involved in the standoff.
