96 COVID-19 CASES CONFIRMED

(03/28/2020)
West Virginia's number of coronavirus cases moved to 96 Friday night as positive tests were confirmed in 11 counties.

The state Department of Health and Human Resources said in a news release the new cases were identified in Berkeley, Greenbrier, Hancock, Jackson, Kanawha, Marion, Mason, Ohio, Pleasants, Putnam and Raleigh counties.

With testing lagging, state officials say that many WV cases likely exist.

As of Friday night, about 2,400 residents have been tested for the virus and six tests are pending at the state lab.z,p. The state DHHR said those who tested in a certain county may not be a resident of that county, or even the state. One person crossed state lines and tested positive in Monongalia County this evening. Medical providers are required to report test results to their local health departments, which provide them to DHHR. Commercial/private labs are also required to report test results to DHHR
