GUNFIRE - Logan County deputies said a man faces charges after he said he fired shots at the tires of a truck his girlfriend was in when she sped away.

Joseph S. Adkins II, 23, of West Fork was charged Tuesday with wanton endangerment and shooting near or across a roadway, according to a Facebook post from the Logan County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies responded about noon to a shots fired call on U.S. 119 near Chase Bank at Airport Road near Chapmanville.

While officers were en route to the scene, the suspect called 911 and said he fired the shots in an attempt to stop his girlfriend who was in their truck on U.S. 119, deputies said.

A deputy found the suspect’s vehicle at the entrance to Chief Logan Lodge on U.S. 119. Adkins was taken into custody after he was found in possession of a pistol with one spent shell casing and had four unfired rounds in his pocket, deputies said.

Adkins is currently being held at Southwestern Regional Jail awaiting arraignment.
