Gas prices have been on the rise throughout West Virginia and local researchers are saying that over the year they've increased by about 10%.

"You have a budget constraint, so increases in gas prices are going to squeeze the ability for consumers to spend on other things," said Brian Lego, Research Assistant Professors for the Bureau of Business and Economic Research.

Researchers also say when crude oil prices increase it's common that gas prices will as well, but the supply and demand business model seems to be at bay when there is an over supply of oil and demand remains about the same.

According to AAA the national gas price average is $2.87. West Virginia's average is above that with a price of $2.91.
