10/6/2018 - The WV Fire Marshal has identified a Ritchie County fire victim as Richard Everett Marks, 17, of Barberton, Ohio.

The fire was determined to be accidental, according to the West Virginia fire marshal.

Richard was born on March 31, 2001 and passed away in October 2018.

Richard was a senior at Barberton High School and attended vocational mechanic classes at Wadsworth High School.

Memorial services will be held at 2 PM, Saturday, October 13, 2018 at Raiguel Funeral Home, Harrisville, WV.

10/1/2018 7 AM - The West Virginia Fire Marshal's Office is investigating after a 17-year-old male died in a camping trailer fire Sunday morning in Ritchie County.

Harrisville firefighters responded about 3:20 a.m. Sunday to a fire on Mayberry Run Road in the Cantwell area, according to a news release from the Harrisville Volunteer Fire Department.

Firefighters learned one family member was not accounted for when they arrived. The youth was discovered to have perished in the fire.

He was tentatively identified as Richard Marks, 17, who was connected to Calhoun County, his great-grandparents being the late Ernest and Hannah Slider Marks. The fire marshal said the cause is undetermined and appears to be accidental.

Multiple fire departments responded.
