UPDATE: WORKER INJURED IN FALL FROM UTILITY POLE ONTO HIGHWAY

9/12/2018 - A Frontier telephone worker from Calhoun, Bobby Taylor of Yellow Creek, was identified as the person injured Tuesday where he fell about 20 feet from a crumbling pole.

Sources indicated that Taylor escaped from what would ordinarily be serious trauma, landing on State Route 16.

He was taken by HealthNet to a Charleston hospital.

9/11/2018 -A worker fell from a Frontier utility pole at 4:45 p.m. Tuesday hitting the middle of the pavement on Rt. 16, the Mt. Zion ridge, about five miles south of Grantsville in the Gunnville community.

The man reportedly fell about 20 feet, with a report saying the pole broke, possibly landing on him.

Calhoun EMS and the Grantsville VFD responded to the incident.

The injured man was taken to Minnie Hamilton Health System where he was taken by HealthNet to a medical center, reports indicating he was not suffering life threatening injuries.

Traffic was blocked for a period of time because of downed lines.
