Preservation Alliance of West Virginia will hold its 2018 Statewide Historic Preservation Conference in Parkersburg, WV, September 20-22 at the historic Blennerhassett Hotel.

"The PAWV Conference in Parkersburg will be an opportunity for our preservation community to get together to discuss important issues facing historic buildings in today's economy. The recent loss of important downtown Parkersburg historic assets will make a dramatic backdrop to underline the importance of sensitive development of our aging historic assets," explains PAWV Board President, Logan Smith.

This year’s conference will feature a variety of workshops on topics including the Historic Rehabilitation Tax Credit and new funding opportunities for sacred places. Continuing education units will be offered to real estate professionals, certified planners, and architects. There will also be tours of the Blennerhassett Mansion and Julie-Ann Square Neighborhood. For a full list of the conference’s scheduled events and information on how to register, please see http://www.pawv.org/2018-conference.html

The annual West Virginia Historic Preservation Awards banquet will take place during the conference on Friday, September 22nd at 6:00pm. This year’s keynote speaker will be Ed McMahon who holds the Charles E. Fraser Chair on Sustainable Development and Environmental Policy at the Urban Land Institute (ULI) in Washington, D.C. McMahon’s presentation will be entitled Saving Place: the New Formula for Community Revitalization.
