THREE SERIOUSLY INJURED WHEN TRUCK CRASHES WITH FALLEN TREE - Victims Were Entrapped

Three occupants of a truck were seriously injured at 4:35 a.m. Wednesday on the western side of Sand Ridge Hill (US 33-119), the truck struck a very large tree totally blocking the highway.

Two of the three occupants were entrapped in the vehicle, with members of the Arnoldsburg and Upper West Fork VFDs using their new extraction equipment to remove them.

The victims were taken to Roane General Hospital, with two of them described as unconscious or semi-conscious.

The fallen tree was the result of a heavy storm that swept through the area at 1 a.m.
