DODDRIDGE-RITCHIE MURDER/SUICIDE - The identities of a man and woman dead after an alleged murder/suicide in Smithburg have been released.

According to the Doddridge County Sheriff's Department, 63-year-old Richard Barnard allegedly murdered his wife, 50-year-old Lisa Barnard, near her place of work in Smithburg before committing suicide in Ritchie County.

The Sheriff's Department believes the crime was the result of a "domestic dispute," but would not elaborate further at this time. Investigators say the incident may have been premeditated.

MAN SHOT IN EYE - Charleston police are investigating a malicious wounding incident where they say a man was shot in the eye with a pellet gun.

Police said a man showed up to Charleston Men's Emergency Shelter at 505 Leon Sullivan Way and claimed he was shot in the face. Police responded about 5:40 a.m. Wednesday and discovered the victim, Jacob Mullins, 21, had been shot with what appeared to be a pellet gun, a news release from the Charleston Police Department said.

Mullins told police two black males with light complexions shot him with a pellet gun as he was sleeping outside of the shelter. Mullins told police one of the suspects was wearing a red T-shirt with white lettering, tan shorts and had curly afro style hair.

No suspects have been identified.

Mullins was transported to Charleston Area Medical Center General Hospital with minor injuries.

Police said the incident did not happen in the building.
