The Roane County Prevention Coalition has planned a free 'Evening of Events' to better educate the community about the opioid epidemic, to be held Saturday, March 31st beginning at 2 p.m. at the Robey Theatre, on Main Street in Spencer.

A screening of the Netflix documentary "HEROIN(E)" will be shown. This powerful glimpse of the U.S. opioid crisis was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Short-Subject Documentary, that follows three women - a fire chief, a judge and a street missionary - battling West Virginia's devastating opioid epidemic.

There will be a panel discussion with local community leaders. Refreshments will be provided by Roane General Hospital and Roane County Family Health Care.

The event is sponsored by The Roane County Prevention Coalition, Roane General Hospital, Roane County Family Health Care, and Westbrook Health Services.

The public is invited and encouraged to attend.
