ADULT EDUCATION

FREE - The High School Equivalency Test is still free in West Virginia. However, you do need to pass a Practice Test first. Call 304-354-6151 Extension 106 to schedule a test or just come in to an Adult Basic Education class. Calhoun County classes are held at the Career Center on Tuesday and Thursday from 11:30-3:30 and Wednesday from 4-6 and Gilmer County classes are at St. Marks Church on Tuesday and Thursday from 4-6. There are also Distance Ed classes available through Arnoldsburg Elementary. Don’t wait. Call now.

WIC NUTRITION PROGRAM

The Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) Nutrition Program is a supplemental foods program for pregnant, post-partum, or breastfeeding women, infants, and children up to the age of five. WIC provides food, breastfeeding support and nutrition education to families in Calhoun County. To apply for the WIC Program or to receive more information call the local office at 304-354-6898 or the main office in Parkersburg at 304-428-3688. WIC Clinic is at 186 Hospital Drive Building 2, Suite 3, Grantsville each Wednesday from 8:00 am to 4:00 pm.

LKVCS CELEBRATION - Five Forks Community Church will be hosting Little Kanawha Valley Christian School's last celebration for this school year on Saturday, April 28th at 6:00 p.m. The theme for the event is "Sowing Seeds for God's Garden." The public is invited. Some of LKVCS students will be performing. It's amazing to see how these young people have become a family and grown in character, knowledge and friendships throughout the year. God is truly blessing LKVCS.

CRESTON ATV POKER RUN - The big spring Creston ATV poker run will be Saturday, April 28th at the Creston Community Building. Breakfast will be served [biscuits & gravy] and riders can leave from between 9 A.M. & noon. Riders will get to go through and up & down streams, stop at the play holes where the macho men can test their toys & then get pulled out by Amazon women, traverse scenic vistas, look at wild flowers, watch game, observe the TransCanada 36" pipeline construction, look at rock cliffs covered with lichens & liverworts, observe oil & gas wells and have a family friendly good time. There are tee shirts, 50/50, door prizes and the great time to visit with other riders, see old friends, etc.

NATIONAL PRESCRIPTION DRUG TAKE-BACK DAY - Turn in your un-used or expired prescriptions on Saturday, April 28 for safe disposal at the Calhoun Sheriffs Department at the Calhoun Courthouse from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
