HELP WANTED

WANTED LKC DISTRICT SUPERVISOR - (e. 3/2/18) Are you interested in becoming a Little Kanawha Conservation District Supervisor representing Calhoun County? Are you a landowner living in Calhoun County? Are you an active or retired farmer with five years of farming experience? Do you have a strong interest in the conservation of West Virginia’s natural resources? If so, you may qualify to become a Little Kanawha Conservation District Supervisor. ADULT EDUCATION

Adult Education can do much more than prepare you for the new High School Equivalency test. We can also help with job search, resume writing, typing, and computer literacy. In addition, English as a Second Language and Literacy classes are offered upon demand. Classes are available in both Gilmer and Calhoun Counties. Calhoun County classes will be held at the Career Center on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday from 11:30 to 3:30. Gilmer County classes will be held at St. Marks Church on Tuesday and Thursday from 4 to 6. Please call 354-6151 Extension 106 for more information.

NOTE OF THANKS - (e. 2/28/18) The Family of Kathryn “Kookie” Harris wish to express our gratitude to our family, friends, neighbors for the outpouring of love. Thank you to all who sent food, flowers, love and prayers during Kookie’s battle with cancer. A thank you to all who donated to American Cancer Society in memory, our Facebook efforts raised $400. We would also like to thank Stump’s Funeral Home, pastors Rick Metheney and Barry Miller, Bethlehem Baptist Church and the pallbearers. Rick and Barry, your memorial for Kookie gave our family peace. SOUP & SANDWICH LUNCH - The Calhoun County Historical Society will be serving a Soup and Sandwich Lunch on Friday, February 23 from 11:00 to 2:00. Proceeds will go to the continued expenses of the Society and the remodel of the Stump House Hotel lobby and parlor. Possible soups on the menu are chili, broccoli cheese, venison vegetable, Sunday supper soup (includes meatballs) and chicken tortellini soup, a variety of sandwiches and iced tea. Everyone is welcome to dine in and take out is available. The cost of the lunch is $6. Located on Main Street Grantsville.

YOUTH BASEBALL SIGNUP - Calhoun Little League and Jr. League will hold signups on Saturday February 24th at Calhoun Middle-High School from 10:00-1:00. Cost for t-ball is $30.00, Minor or Major League is $45.00, and Jr. League is $75.00.

BEEKEEPING MEETING - The next meeting of the WCBA will be held Saturday, February 24th at 1:00 PM at the COA building, 811 Madison Avenue Spencer, WV. The public is invited.

BIG TIME RASLIN' - Route 33 Wrestling will be hosting their debut event, "Spring Breakdown," at the Armory in Spencer, WV. The event will showcase some of the greatest wrestlers in the Appalachian region, including Gary Gandy (previously seen on WWE's SmackDown LIVE), "The Hawaiian Hurricane" King Kaluha, Johnny Demonic, and Spencer's own Mongo. There will also be a variety of tag matches, with appearances by The Outlaws, The Grimy Scots, The Rapproachement, and more. Concessions will be sold, and there will be merchandise and a 50/50 raffle. Tickets are $10 at the door, with children 5 and under entering for free. This is a family friendly event, so bring mom, dad, and the kids!
