HURRICANE CRAZY GUNS - A man is accused of holding people at gunpoint, stealing two vehicles and then leading authorities on a pursuit through Kanawha and Putnam vounties on Thursday afternoon.

Police arrested Justin Michael Wilson, 18, after he wrecked a county-owned truck off Hurricane Creek Road, said State Police Capt. D.L. Lemmon.

"The truck ends up burning up, and the officers pulled him from the car," Lemmon said.

He said authorities were on the lookout for Wilson after he brandished an AR-15 rifle in Sissonville.

Wilson was later spotted driving a Ford Expedition in Charleston. The SUV was reported stolen in Jackson County, according to Lemmon.

Dispatchers soon received a call someone had stolen a truck, owned by the Putnam Public Service District, after holding two county employees at gunpoint in the Liberty Square Shopping Center.

According to a criminal complaint, Wilson told the employees it was their lucky day.

He then pulled out a "camo AR" and told the employees to move items from the SUV to the county truck, the complaint states.

Lemmon said another pursuit unfolded on Interstate 64 after authorities spotted the truck. Wilson allegedly drove against traffic before he left the interstate and turned onto Hurricane Creek Road.

"About the time he was exiting the interstate, he points what is believed to be an AR-15, an assault rifle, out the window at the pursuing trooper," Lemmon said.

Pursuing authorities slowed down to avoid losing control on the wet road, according to the complaint. They soon turned a corner and saw the truck Wilson was driving, now burning after it was wrecked.

Paramedics transported Wilson to an area hospital.

Wilson is facing charges of first-degree robbery, attempted first-degree robbery, grand larceny and fleeing with reckless indifference.

He remains at Western Regional Jail in lieu of a $250,000 cash-only bail.

ANOTHER BANK ROBBERY - Steve Meeks, 61, of Louisa, is charged with first-degree attempted robbery of the Inez Deposit Bank, first-degree fleeing or evading police, first-degree wanton endangerment, reckless driving, second-offense DUI and having illegal registration plates. Wayne County Sheriff's deputies in West Virginia say Meeks also will be charged in the robbery of Community Trust Bank on Friday in Fort Gay.

Officers in Louisa received information about the Fort Gay robbery after being notified earlier that a man was acting suspicious around the Inez Deposit Bank.

A pursuit of the suspect's truck included Wayne Sheriff's deputies, the Louisa Police Department, the Lawrence County (Kentucky) Sheriff's Office and Kentucky State Police.

ARMED AND DANGEROUS - The Raleigh County Sheriff's Office said an "armed and dangerous" man who left home confinement Wednesday could be moving around the state.

Williams is described as 6'1″, around 230 pounds, has gray hair and blue eyes.

He was recently seen in both Marmet and Kanawha City. He could be in the Boone County area.

HARRISON MURDER - Melissa McAtee, 33, was arrested on murder charges after a Harrison County shooting Thursday night.

McAtee shot and killed David Cottrill at their residence near Lumberport at approximately 8:30 p.m., according to the Harrison County Sheriff's Department. The incident occurred in the bedroom near the rear of the residence, deputies said.

Cottrill's mother and four children were in the living room at the time of the shooting, deputies said.

Deputies said McAtee came from the bedroom to the living room, where Cottrill's family was present, to get a hunting rifle. She opened the gun cabinet and said, "Yep, there's one in there," before walking back to the bedroom. The witnesses, then, heard a single gunshot.

McAtee walked back into the living room, threw the rifle on the floor and said, "I killed the motherf***er," deputies said.

McAtee is charged with murder and is currently in the North Central Regional Jail with no bond set.
