Nolen N. Butler Sr., 74 - Naples, Florida, formerly of Calhoun County

Nolen N. Butler Sr. of Naples, Florida, son of the late Thomas and Sally Butler, and step-mother, Jennie Hall Butler, formerly of Beech Road Calhoun County, WV, 74, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, November 29, 2003.

He was a Korean War veteran. Nolen and his family moved to Naples in 1972 from Stow, OH. He was employed by the Collier County Building Department for 19 years. Upon retiring in 1990 he started his own business, Nolen's Permitting & Courier Service. Nolen never met a stranger and enjoyed helping people. His quick wit and great sense of humor will be sorely missed.

Nolen is survived by his wife of 49 years, Irene Butler; his son, Scott A. (Tracy) Butler; his daughter, Jennie Butler (HL) Gasperson; eight grandchildren, Scott Adam Jr., Kaycee, Kelsey, Cheyenne Butler, Amber Clark, Michael Tucker, Hank and Ryan Gasperson, all of Naples; his brothers and sisters, Doy Butler, Chloe Alfred, Flava Fisher, all of West Virginia, Floda (Raymond) Dulaney of Naples, Milton (Ruth) Butler of Ohio; brother-inlaw, Fred Matulin and sister-in-law, Frances Matulin, both of Naples; numerous nieces and nephews; and many friends.

He is preceded in death by his son, Nolen Butler Jr.; his parents, Thomas and Sally Butler; his step-mom, Jennie Hall; his brothers, Vier and Ora Butler; and his sister, Cora Alfred.

Visiting will be at Hodges Funeral Chapel, 3520 Tamiami Trail North on Tuesday, December 2, 2003 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, December 3, 2003 at 11:30 a.m. at North Naples United Methodist Church, 6000 Goodlette Road, Naples.

Interment will be in Naples Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Hospice of Naples, 1095 Whippoorwill Lane, Naples, FL 34105. The family has entrusted care and services to Hodges Funeral Chapel.
