400 MORE WV GUARDSMEN HEADED TO IRAQ

(11/26/2003)
More than 400 members of a Fairmont-based National Guard artillery unit are headed to Iraq.

Members of the First Battalion, 201st Field Artillery will be sent to Fort Drum, New York, before being shipped overseas.

The unit represents armories in Fairmont, Elkins, Morgantown, Keyser, Hinton, Ronceverte and Kingwood.

Unit members may be mobilized for up to 18 months.

This brings the number of West Virginia National Guard troops activated for Operation Iraqi Freedom to 2,100, not including Army reservists.
