FLOOD WARNING ISSUED FOR CALHOUN, ROANE, WIRT, CLAY, GILMER, BRAXTON - Vehicles In Water Rt. 16, Assistance Calls Rt. 16 South

9:15 AM - The National Weather Service has issued a Flood Warning for Calhoun, Gilmer, Roane, Braxton, Clay and Wirt until 1:00 PM EST Wednesday afternoon.

A WARNING means actual flooding is occurring.

Schools are closed.

Water is on Rt. 16 south in usual places from Orma to Stinson.

Upper West Fork firemen have answered a call regarding vehicles in water.

Also assistance calls along Rt. 16 south regarding residences flooding.

Rainfall amounts of 1 to 2 inches have fallen across the area with additional amounts of around an inch expected this morning. This will cause small streams and creeks to run out of their banks causing flooding.

Persons living along creeks and streams should be alert to take action quickly.

Do not drive through water over roadways as vehicles are easily floated and can be swept away quickly.

Reports of autos in flood water already in Roane County.
