WOOD FESTIVAL ENDINGS AND BEGINNINGS - Lion's Club Will Sponsor Event

(11/19/2003)
There has been an ending and a beginning with the Calhoun County Wood Festival.

The official festival corporation was dissolved at a special meeting held on November 13.

"It is sad to see the corporation dissolved after all these years, and all the hard work and determination to keep it going," said committee secretary Nikki Boatright.

The festival will continue under the auspices of the Grantsville Lions Club, which has played an active role in the event since it was started.

Lion member John Oshoway extended an invitation from Grantsville Lion's Club at the special meeting to all current officers of the Wood Festival committee to join the Lion's Club.

Boatright said the committee looks forward to working with the Lion's Club and hopes it is a smooth transition for both groups.

The Wood Festival will be held June 3rd, 4th, 5th, 2004. The committee is currently working with the Calhoun Commission on moving next year's festival to Wayne Underwood Field. The committee is currently planning a Petting Zoo, Kid's Field Day, Recipe Contest and "bigger" entertainment for the 2004 Festival.

The next meeting of the Wood Festival committee will be held Tuesday, December 2, 2003 at Grantsville Lion's Club Building.
