It's a giant red oak tree near south Grantsville, photographed in 2003, in the Barr Woods between the Little Kanawha and Phillips Run. A few really big trees are still standing in the Bear Fork wildereness. David Barr (pictured), a descendant of the early Barr family who lived on the 300 acres.
