Charles Fenton Chenoweth - Spencer, formerly of Minnora

Charles Fenton Chenoweth, 81, of Spencer, W.Va., died Nov. 9, 2003, at the Roane General Hospital, Spencer.

He was born Dec. 13, 1921, in Minnora, W.Va., a son of the late Joseph Wood and Ruth Hanger Chenoweth. He was a Spencer High School graduate and retired from the Spencer State Hospital as kitchen supervisor. He was a former member of the Spencer Baptist Temple and was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II, where he served in the Pacific Theatre as a landing craft driver involved in seven major invasions.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Macel Starcher Chenoweth in 1984.

He is survived by several loving nieces and nephews.

Service will be 1 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 13, 2003, at the Taylor-Vandale Funeral Home, Spencer, with the Rev. James Chenoweth officiating. Burial will be in the Morford Cemetery near Spencer.

Visitation is scheduled for two hours prior to the service at the funeral home. Spencer's American Legion Post 21 will be conducting the military portion of the service.
