(11/02/2003)
9 AM - A Bear Run man reportedly pulled a weapon on a Calhoun Emergency Services ambulance crew early Sunday morning, after they responded to a hillside camper in a rural area on Bear Run off Nicut Road.

Reports said no shots were fired from the weapon.

The man is yet to be identified.

At least five law enforcement units were summoned to the scene. State Trooper Doug Starcher reportedly obtained the weapon after it was handed over to a neighbor.

The ambulance service was dispatched after the man was allegedly injured in a fall near the Wesley Nicholas residence.

Two EMS crews responded to the 8:08 call, one from the Minnora station and another with a 4-wheel drive from Mt. Zion.

At least six law enforcement units were summoned to the scene.

Calhoun 911 discontinued two other State Police officers responding, one from Roane County. Three officers from the Calhoun County Sheriff's department also responded to the call.

The man was reportedly taken to Roane General Hospital for examination.
