Nell Stump, Akron, Ohio, formerly of Nicut

(10/24/2003)
Nell Stump, wife of the late Waitman Stump, died on Monday, Oct. 20, 2003.

She survived her beloved husband by just over one year. Nell Natalie Smith was born on Dec. 13, 1923, in Nicut, W. Va.

Nell was preceded in death by her parents, Isaiah David and Ora Lee Smith, and by three siblings, Robert Smith, David A. Smith, and Frances Lindeman. She is survived by her two daughters, Sharon Stump and Patricia Stump; by brother, Bernard Smith; by brother and sister-in-law, David "Cap" and Marjorie Smith; by sisters-in-law, Delores Smith and Charlene Smith; and by many nieces, nephews, and friends. Nell was a retiree of J.C. Penney Co. Remembering her feistiness, her youngest brother lovingly says of her, "A fireball is hard to hold onto."

Nell was a believer in Jesus Christ as her personal savior. She and her husband were longtime members of the Hillwood Chapel in Green, Ohio. The ashes of Nell and Waitman will be scattered on his family farm.

A memorial service was held on Wednesday, Oct. 22, 2003, at the Hillwood Chapel. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hillwood Chapel, 4824 S. Arlington Rd., Uniontown, Ohio 44685, or to Hospice Care Center, 3358 Ridgewood Rd., Akron, Ohio 44333. Our special thanks go to the staff of City Hospital's CCU and Hospital for their care of our mother during the last week of her life. (The Cremation Society of Ohio, 800-664-1012.)
