ARREST MADE IN MURDER OF BRAXTON MAN

(10/22/2003)
An arrest has been made in the murder of a Braxton County man, whose body was found duct-taped in a trash can in Kanawha County last week.

Twenty-nine-year-old Robert William Lowe of Kanawha County, who also goes by the names Keith and Bobby, has been charged with first-degree murder.

The body of 55-year-old Roy Glen Loyd was found brutally murdered near the Kanawha River behind a motel in Jefferson.

A night club stripper told the Kanawha County Sheriff's Department the Braxton County man came to the Jefferson motel to see her early this month.

Police said Loyd was known to carry thousands of dollars in cash and documented repeated trips from Braxton County to pay for sex with the Kanawha County stripper.

She claims Loyd went into a room with Lowe, her boyfriend, while she went to the store.

The woman said when she returned to the room, Lowe refused to allow her inside. He told her he had "taken care of Roy."

The woman told police that Lowe had talked to her in the past about robbing Loyd and using the money to pay some drug debts.

Roy Glen Lowe's girlfriend, Misty Cabral, had a sexual relationship with Loyd for about a month. according to Kanawha County Magistrate Court filings in the case. Loyd had been visiting her at different establishments having to do with sex.

Cabral has been a dancer at various Jefferson strip clubs.
