Vergie Sands, 90 - Rosedale

Vergie Sands, 90, of Rosedale, Gilmer County, died October 16th at Jane Lew. Born in Gilmer County, she was a daughter of the late J. D. McElwee and Ida Fitzpatrick McElwee. She was a homemaker and a member of the Rosedale Baptist Church Surviving are two daughters, Doris Shepherd of Ohio and Marlene Linger of Jane Lew; two sons, Carroll Sands of Buckhannon and Bob Sands of Florida; 15 grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild, and her Care-givers, Charlie, Sherri, Lori, and Jonie Sellers. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Harold Sands; 10 sisters and 1 brother. Funeral services were held Sunday, October 19 at Rosedale Baptist Church with Elders Roger Stewart and Larry Fisher officiating. Interment was in Rosedale Baptist Church Cemetery. Stump Funeral Home, Arnoldsburg was in charge of arrangements.
