INCREASED MISDEMEANOR FINES ON COUNCIL AGENDA - Special Meeting Tonight

(10/20/2003)
Grantsville's council will hold a special meeting tonight at 7 p.m.

The council will hear a second reading of ordinances, one of which would set the rates for misdemeanor fines that could be assessed against citizens for violations.

The fines are linked to the establishment of a Municipal Court, which would be presided over by the mayor.

The ordinance sets the fines from $500 on a first offense to $2,500 on a third offense.

Another ordinance outlines how the town will conduct business, meeting locations and special meetings, and how the press and public will be advised prior to the meetings.
