KENTUCKY MAN ARRESTED IN BRAXTON MAN'S MURDER

(10/20/2003)
A Kentucky man will likely be charged with first-degree murder in the beating death of a Braxton County man whose body was found stuffed and duct-taped in a trash can in Kanawha County last Wednesday.

William Keith Lowe, 29, was arrested Sunday by Kanawha County sheriff's deputies. He was described as the prime suspect in the robbery and murder of Roy Giles Loyd, 55, of Flatwoods, a local woodworker and cabinet maker.

Lowe had a lengthy criminal history in Florida and Ohio, and was wanted in Quincy, Fla., on a probation violation.

Police believe Loyd was killed in Jefferson at the Rustic Motel, which is next to Bannum Place, an abandoned half-way house for offenders.

Kanawha County deputies searched Loyd's residence in Braxton and reportedly found evidence that led them to Lowe.
