GLENVILLE COP'S CASE WILL BE HEARD IN WEBSTER COUNTY

(10/16/2003)
The trial of a former Glenville police officer has been moved out of Gilmer County because of publicity.

Circuit Judge Jack Alsop granted the defense attorney's request for a change of venue today, as the trial was scheduled to begin.

Michael Kendall's trial is now set to be held in Webster County on January 6th, with Alsop continuing to preside over the case.

Kendall was indicted in July of attempt to commit voluntary manslaughter, three counts of wanton endangerment, three counts of kidnapping, burglary and a misdemeanor count of destruction of property. He was fired by Grenville's Town Council City in August.

Kendall is accused of ramming and firing a shot into a pickup truck driven by 20-year-old Kevin Tinglier during a high-speed pursuit.

After losing sight of Tinglier in the chase, Kendall said he drove through another county before he allegedly entered the residence of Tingler's father and drew his gun on three occupants.

Kendall resigned from the Clarksburg Police Department in October 2002 amid dismissal proceedings, before he became a Glenville policeman.
